MAMP is powerful and a great tool for Mac-based web developers, and it generally requires much less tinkering and complexity than manually configuring the individual components to run in OS X itself. MAMP also offers a standalone web server solution, with Apache, PHP and MySQL already included in a single application package, a user simply launches the MAMP app and starts with the necessary services to start and stop a local development web server. If configuring Apache, PHP, and MySQL in OS X sounds too complicated or considered too much of a hassle, another great solution is to use a preconfigured web server package such as MAMP. Apache can still be used and started manually, but it won’t start itself with a reboot or boot, quite simply. See apache.httpd not returned? The daemon will not be loaded and will not start automatically. If you are not sure whether you have set Apache to load automatically or not, you can get launchd for apache as follows: Determine if Apache is loaded or removed in launchd Sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/Īgain, you must enter the administrator password to confirm the change.
